Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Catholic's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Joseph's Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Southside Christian Sabres 7-5. While the Knights didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Addie Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Bentley Thompson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Stella Nash was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one triple.

St. Joseph's Catholic's record now sits at 6-4. As for Southside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph's Catholic will square off against Brashier Middle College Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southside Christian, they will take on Carolina Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sabres are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
