Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Arthur-Okaw Christian's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Arthur-Okaw Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to the Hammond Baptist Swordsmen 56-52. While losing is never fun, the Conquering Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 391st in Illinois, while the Swordsmen are ranked 63rd in Indiana).

Arthur-Okaw Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Cody Kuhns, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and three steals. The dominant performance gave Kuhns a new career-high in assists. Brock Helmuth was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

Arthur-Okaw Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Hammond Baptist, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Arthur-Okaw Christian will venture away from home to square off against Judah Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Arthur-Okaw Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.4 points per game this season. As for Hammond Baptist, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Unity Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th.
