Basketball Recap: Weeki Wachee Takes a Loss

Weeki Wachee played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Lecanto Panthers, falling 92-41. While losing is never fun, the Hornets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 737th, while the Panthers are ranked 103rd).

Weeki Wachee's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Royal-Brown, who made all 5 shots he took to post 10 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Beams, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Weeki Wachee's defeat dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Lecanto, they pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will challenge Tarpon Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weeki Wachee is facing Tarpon Springs at the right time seeing as Tarpon Springs is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. Lecanto has already played their next contest (against Citrus), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
