Volleyball Recap: Mount St. Charles Academy Mounties vs. Austin Prep Cougars

After flying high against Winchendon last Saturday, Mount St. Charles Academy came back down to earth. The Mounties fell just short of the Austin Prep Cougars by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. While the Mounties didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-21 in the first set.

Mount St. Charles Academy wouldn't go down easily and took Austin Prep into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 21-25, 15-13.

Camryn Bedrossian paced Mount St. Charles Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Bedrossian got some help from Chloe Marcotte and her 28 assists. Finally, Bedrossian was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Austin Prep can attribute much of their success to Olivia McSorley, who had 17 digs and one assist. That's the most digs McSorley has posted since back in October.

Mount St. Charles Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Austin Prep, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mount St. Charles Academy will face off against Worcester Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Austin Prep, they will square off against Winsor at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
