After flying high against Delaware Christian last Tuesday, Mt. Gilead came back down to earth. The Mt. Gilead Indians fell just short of the Wynford Royals by a score of 8-7 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Mt. Gilead of the 22-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Kierra Main was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Wilt, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Mt. Gilead dropped their record down to 1-2 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Mt. Gilead will be playing in front of their home fans against Crestline at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Wynford, they will head out on the road to take on Elgin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wynford is facing Elgin at the right time seeing as Elgin is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
