Basketball Game Preview: Spring-Ford Rams vs. Cheltenham Panthers

The Spring-Ford Rams will square off against the Cheltenham Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Spring-Ford came up short against Coatesville and fell 63-56. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Red Raiders are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Cheltenham lost a heartbreaker to Conestoga when they met back in February of 2018, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Cheltenham fell 52-44 to Conestoga. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now lost three in a row.

Spring-Ford's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points over those games. As for Cheltenham, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

Spring-Ford won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, slipping by Cheltenham 62-61. Will Spring-Ford repeat their success, or does Cheltenham have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
