Volleyball Recap: Smyrna Bulldogs vs. Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers
If Smyrna was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of LaVergne last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Warren County Pioneers & Lady Pioneers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pioneers & Lady Pioneers 25-19 in the first set.
Smyrna actually scored more points across those five sets (104-100), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-16, 12-25, 29-27, 15-11.
Despite the defeat, Smyrna saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mya Cornwell had six digs and four aces.
Smyrna has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10 record this season. As for Warren County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8.
