Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Daniel Mbadinga and Avantae Hood Lead Rocky Mountain to Victory

Rocky Mountain won the last time they faced Poudre and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rocky Mountain Lobos strolled past the Poudre Impalas with points to spare, taking the game 59-40.

Rocky Mountain was led to victory by Avantae Hood and Daniel Mbadinga. Hood went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points along with five boards and three steals, while Mbadinga went 7 for 11 on his way to 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks. Hood is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mateo Valencia, who posted nine points.

Rocky Mountain was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Poudre only racked up six assists.

When it comes to explaining why Poudre lost, don't look at Luke Foster. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 boards. Jake Kirby was another key player, putting up eight points.

Rocky Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Poudre, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Rocky Mountain and Poudre could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Rocky Mountain will challenge Windsor at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 94 places (123 vs. 29). Similarly, Poudre (ranked 185th) will meet Fossil Ridge (ranked 42nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
