The Point Pleasant Beach Garnet Gulls will face off against the Toms River East Raiders on Saturday. Point Pleasant Beach is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Point Pleasant Beach needed a bit of extra time to put away Toms River North. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Mariners 4-3. The Garnet Gulls haven't had any issues with the Mariners recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

THOMAS SLOBISKI looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, BRODY POWERS was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. CARSON PFEIFER was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Toms River East). Everything went their way against Colts Neck on Thursday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won three matches in a row.

Point Pleasant Beach's win bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Toms River East, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
