The Archbishop McNicholas Rockets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 47-30 victory over Badin. Given Archbishop McNicholas' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Badin is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop McNicholas was led to victory by Andrew Ehlers and Jack Tucker. Ehlers scored ten points along with eight rebounds, while Tucker scored ten points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Ehlers' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carson Young, who scored six points.
Archbishop McNicholas has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Badin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Archbishop McNicholas will head out on the road to face off against La Salle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Badin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chaminade Julienne Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Chaminade Julienne Catholic is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
