Basketball Game Preview: Terry Rangers vs. Fort Bend Kempner Cougars

Terry hasn't had much luck against Fort Bend Kempner recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Terry Rangers will venture away from home to square off against the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Terry will be strutting in after a win while Fort Bend Kempner will be coming in after a loss.

Terry will bounce into Friday's game after beating Lamar Consolidated, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Terry came out on top against Lamar Consolidated by a score of 32-23 on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Rangers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Fort Bend Kempner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were beaten by Victoria West 71-18. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1268th, while the Warriors are ranked 432nd).

Despite the loss, Fort Bend Kempner saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Olivia Ceballo posted six points.

Terry's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Fort Bend Kempner, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-17.

Terry strolled past Fort Bend Kempner when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 50-36. The rematch might be a little tougher for Terry since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
