Football Game Preview: Gaither Cowboys vs. Springstead Eagles + How To Watch

The Gaither Cowboys will square off against the Springstead Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gaither is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.

Gaither is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Wesley Chapel: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cowboys blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 49-7 final score. The result was nothing new for the Cowboys, who have now won three matchups by 36 points or more so far this season.

Gaither's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Browning, who threw for 355 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another rusher making a difference was Joshua Balloon, who rushed for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only six carries.

Meanwhile, Springstead unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 28-14 to Nature Coast Tech.

Gaither will have to contain William Figueroa as he made an impact in Springstead's last game. He rushed for 135 yards and two scores. Figueroa has become a key player for Springstead: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise.

Gaither's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Springstead, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything came up roses for Gaither against Springstead in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-0 win. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
