Preview: Fuqua Falcons vs. Tidewater Academy Warriors
Fuqua has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Tidewater Academy Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Virginia (Fuqua is ranked 428th, while Tidewater Academy is ranked 440th).
Last Thursday, Fuqua took a serious blow against Brunswick Academy, falling 75-33. Fuqua has struggled against Brunswick Academy recently, as their game on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Sam Minix put forth a good effort for the losing side as he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 42.4% of Fuqua's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fuqua struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-4) when they can't control their own glass like that.
Tidewater Academy can finally bid farewell to their 11-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 55-36 victory over Amelia Academy. The win was just what Tidewater Academy needed coming off of a 61-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Fuqua has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Tidewater Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-15.
Fuqua was able to grind out a solid win over Tidewater Academy in their previous matchup back in January, winning 51-39. Will Fuqua repeat their success, or does Tidewater Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
