Basketball Recap: Grand County Comes Up Short

Grand County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 74-55 bruising from the Union Cougars. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Grand County lost, don't look at Trace York. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. The match was York's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Weston Jones, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds.

Grand County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Union, they pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Grand County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gunnison Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Union, they will be taking part in a tournament against Summit Academy at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th.
