Baseball Game Preview: Chapman Irish vs. Concordia Panthers

The Chapman Irish are taking a road trip to face off against the Concordia Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chapman will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

On Thursday, Chapman needed a bit of extra time to put away Southeast of Saline. They won by a run and slipped past the Trojans 12-11. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Irish as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chapman got a massive performance out of Aven Woods, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with six stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave Woods a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cade Hanney, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Chapman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Concordia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wamego.

Concordia's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Chapman, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Chapman beat Concordia 10-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Irish since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
