Preview: Holly Wildcats vs. Las Animas Trojans
Holly is 9-0 against Las Animas since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Holly Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Las Animas Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Hopefully Holly focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 59 on Thursday.
Holly suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They were outmatched by Granada at home and fell 53-21. Holly has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Josie Kissell was Holly's leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Idaly Rodriquez held things down on the boards with eight rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Las Animas ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Crowley County 36-34. The win was just what Las Animas needed coming off of a 51-8 defeat in their prior contest.
Holly now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Las Animas, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2.
Holly didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Las Animas in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory. Will Holly repeat their success, or does Las Animas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
