Canal Winchester had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Reynoldsburg on Wednesday. The Indians never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Canal Winchester got a massive performance out of Kendal Mccrea, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those stolen bases were Mccrea's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Wuelleh, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.
Canal Winchester lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Pickerington Central, as they earned their first away victory of the season. Everything went their way against Logan on Wednesday as they made off with a 13-5 win. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly eight runs.
Pickerington Central also got a great performance from Olivia Achtermann as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mycah Massey, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Sofie Barnett was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Canal Winchester, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Canal Winchester has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .475. However, it's not like Pickerington Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .461. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canal Winchester suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Pickerington Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
