Basketball Recap: East Mountain Comes Up Short

East Mountain lost against St. Michael back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The East Mountain Timberwolves were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 51-50 to the St. Michael's Horsemen. One positive for the Timberwolves, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, East Mountain saw an underclassman step up: freshman Evelyn Kannolt dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kannolt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jodie Tillman, who posted seven points.

East Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for St. Michael's, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mountain will venture away from home to face off against Tucumcari at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tucumcari is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.5 points per game this season. As for St. Michael's, they will head out to challenge Grants at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
