Liberty Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Liberty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. On Tuesday, Liberty Christian needed a bit of extra time to put away Rustburg. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Red Devils. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
Josh Hall made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Clark Breedlove, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Eston Tanner, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Liberty lost 10-2 to Jefferson Forest on Tuesday.
Liberty saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Spencer Grant, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Liberty Christian's record now sits at 10-3. As for Liberty, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-14.
Liberty's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Liberty Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Liberty, though, as they've only averaged .326. Will they be able to contain Liberty Christian's hitters?
Liberty Christian took their victory against Liberty in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
