Baseball Recap: Seminole Comes Up Short

Seminole blew Osceola out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Osceola got their revenge. The Warhawks fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Warhawks have suffered against the Warriors since March 29, 2022.

Seminole got a good showing from Cooper Walker, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walker has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Seminole saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Worley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one double. Garrein Ponder also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Seminole's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Osceola, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

Seminole and Osceola should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Warhawks will challenge Gulf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (58 vs. 548). Meanwhile, Osceola (ranked 19th) will meet Cooper (ranked 385th) at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 1.6, the Dragons 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
