Softball Recap: Richard Comes Up Short

Richard extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Our Lady of the Lakes Lakers. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Lakers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-9 loss on Monday.

As for Our Lady of the Lakes, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games.

For Our Lady of the Lakes' part, Aubrey Lyden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 15 Ks.

At the plate, Emelia Asai was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Molly Ronquillo was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Richard has already played their next contest (against St. Catherine of Siena Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Our Lady of the Lakes, they have also already played their next game, a 17-2 win against Cardinal Mooney Catholic on the 7th.
