Soccer Game Preview: Petal vs. St. Patrick

The Petal Panthers will face off against the St. Patrick Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Petal is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Bay, who was ranked 17th at the time (Petal was ranked 16th). The Panthers fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. Petal have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Meanwhile, St. Patrick had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.4 goals) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Bobcats.

Lila Miller and Bella Jordan scored both of St. Patrick's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 31 goals.

Petal's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5-2. As for St. Patrick, their win bumped their record up to 13-4-3.
