Basketball Game Preview: Emery Spartans vs. Juab Wasps

The Emery Spartans will take on the Juab Wasps at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Emery has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 180 points over their last three matches.

Last Thursday, Emery didn't have too much trouble with North Sanpete as they won 62-45. The Spartans pushed the score to 57-35 by the end of the third, a deficit the Hawks cut but never quite recovered from.

Emery had a senior duo take command as Katelyn Nielson went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points and Saige Curtis went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points. Nielson's evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Stilson, who posted eight points.

Emery was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Juab beat Manti 51-42 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wasps.

Juab's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Emery, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season.

Emery came up short against Juab when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 60-50. Thankfully for Emery, Lucy Richards (who shot 4-for-7 from deep and dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time.
