Burges had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They breezed by the Coronado Thunderbirds to the tune of 77-35. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Burges' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danae Gonzalez led the charge by putting up 19 points in addition to seven steals and six assists. Gonzalez's afternoon made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cameryn Morales, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points along with five assists and five steals.

Burges' victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.

Burges has already played their next matchup, an 80-13 win against Parkland on the 27th. As for Coronado, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 54-24 loss against Eastlake on the 28th.
