Softball Recap: Donovan Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Clifton Central, Donovan was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Illinois Lutheran Chargers by a score of 5-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Laylah Lou Walters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Bailey Henneike was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Lily Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Donovan's win bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Illinois Lutheran, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Donovan is set to face off against their familiar foe Clifton Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Illinois Lutheran will take on rival Gardner-South Wilmington at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
