Basketball Recap: Turner Takes a Loss

Turner lost against Highland Park back in February of 2020 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Turner Lions were dealt a 98-55 defeat at the hands of the Highland Park Scots. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-28.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Leo Portillo, who went 8 for 15 on his way to 23 points. The dominant performance gave Portillo a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Stone, who posted 14 points.

Turner's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Highland Park, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home.

Turner will challenge Lone Star at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lone Star's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. As for Highland Park, they will face off against The Colony at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colony will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Highland Park surely won't give up without a fight.
