Baseball Recap: Stillwater Drops Season-High Score on Waterford-Halfmoon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stillwater). They were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Waterford-Halfmoon Fordians on Wednesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warriors also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2024.

Kaden Burdo and David Kramek made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Burdo struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. Meanwhile, Kramek pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Burdo went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Kramek went 1-for-4 with two runs. Burdo also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

In other batting news, Avery Murray was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. That double was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Colden McDonagh, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Stillwater always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Stillwater's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Waterford-Halfmoon, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Stillwater beat the Fordians by a score of 9-2 later that day.
