Baseball Recap: Greenwood Has No Trouble Against East Juniata

Greenwood lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Juniata, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 16-5 victory on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Owen Losch was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Greenwood's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Ben Jones was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Greenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 8.8.

Greenwood's win bumped their record up to 4-10. As for East Juniata, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Greenwood will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Mount Calvary Christian at 4:30 p.m. The last four games the Chargers have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for East Juniata, they are taking a road trip to square off against Newport at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Buffaloes have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
