Basketball Recap: Abigail Pollett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alcovy over Jackson County

It was a proper cat-fight when Alcovy took on Jackson County on Friday. The Alcovy Tigers took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jackson County Panthers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-51 back in January.

Alcovy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abigail Pollett, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Shamariah Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards.

Alcovy's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Jackson County, they pushed their record up to 17-7 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home.

Alcovy has already played their next game, a 48-41 defeat against Habersham Central on the 1st. Jackson County has also already played their next contest (against Loganville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
