Baseball Recap: Sterling Comes Up Short

Sterling entered their match against Silver Creek on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers fell 6-3 to the Raptors. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Raptors earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

Dayten DiOrio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caysen Bamford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Sterling's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Silver Creek, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Coming up, Sterling will face off against Platte Valley at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Silver Creek, they will challenge Frederick at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raptors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
