Preview: Calvary Christian Academy Conquerors vs. Blair County Christian Bobcats
The Calvary Christian Academy Conquerors will head out on the road to take on the Blair County Christian Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Calvary Christian Academy comes in on five and Blair County Christian on seven.
On Tuesday, Calvary Christian Academy beat DuBois Christian 52-44.
Calvary Christian Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jackson Suttles, who scored 15 points along with six steals, and Tyrell Lapp, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Lapp has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last five times he's played. Micah Lloyd was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Blair County Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Huntingdon Christian Academy on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 44-39 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Blair County Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micaiah Marucci, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Marucci has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthias Andre, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Calvary Christian Academy pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Blair County Christian's record is now 10-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Calvary Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Blair County Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Calvary Christian Academy beat Blair County Christian 54-44 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
