Volleyball Game Preview: Mesa Ridge Grizzlies vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans

Mesa Ridge is 1-6 against Fountain-Fort Carson since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mesa Ridge Grizzlies will host the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 6:00 p.m.

Mesa Ridge is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Sand Creek, falling 3-0.

While Mesa Ridge was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-16, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson faced Rampart in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Fountain-Fort Carson sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Rampart. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Fountain-Fort Carson was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-98), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 20-25, 11-25, 25-22, 15-12.

Mesa Ridge better keep an eye on Alex Gio Nicandro. He was instrumental in Fountain-Fort Carson's win, getting 25 digs and one assist. Nicandro is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 11 or more in each of the last five games he's played.

Mesa Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
