New London picks up eighth straight win on the road

Recap: New London Whalers vs. Fairfield Prep Jesuits

The New London Whalers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins but they left with three. They strolled past Fairfield Prep with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given New London's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Fairfield Prep is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Devan Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of TeeJee Punch, who scored eight points along with three blocks.

New London pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Fairfield Prep, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.

New London will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Lyme at 7:00 p.m. As for Fairfield Prep, they will head out on the road to challenge Xavier at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Xavier and Fairfield Prep are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
