Baseball Game Preview: Reed-Custer Comets vs. Seneca Fighting Irish

The Reed-Custer Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Seneca Fighting Irish at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Reed-Custer has five straight victories, Seneca has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Reed-Custer sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Coal City.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Seneca's offense. They came up short against Marquette on Thursday, falling 7-0.

Reed-Custer pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Seneca, their loss dropped their record down to 8-18.

Reed-Custer beat Seneca 10-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
