Anthony Arias and Jordan Paris made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Arias tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Meanwhile, Paris tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Arias has become a key player for Weston Ranch: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise. At the plate, Arias went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Paris got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Paris a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Sandoval, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Nico Orona, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Ripon Christian came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 17-4 win. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Max Anderson was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Josh Crivello, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Ripon Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ripon Christian now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Weston Ranch, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Weston Ranch has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ripon Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Weston Ranch came out on top in a nail-biter against Ripon Christian when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 7-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
