Soccer Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer was the 3-1 winner over Artesia when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pioneer Titans lost 5-2 to the Artesia Pioneers on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 170th).

Pioneer's loss dropped their record down to 6-9-1. As for Artesia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2-3 record this season.

Pioneer will square off against Glenn at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Glenn's last six contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Artesia has already played their next game (against Oxford Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
