Reading has won three straight games at home, while Taylor has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will host the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Reading is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
While Reading didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Bethel-Tate on Tuesday.
Charlie Hess made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Connor Davis was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Reading's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-3 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jason Lunsford, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Reading kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Taylor fell victim to Madeira and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS. The Yellowjackets' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Taylor's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Reading, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
Taylor's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Reading has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .498. It's a different story for Taylor, though, as they've only averaged .337. Will they be able to contain Reading's hitters?
Reading couldn't quite get it done against Taylor when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Will the Blue Devils have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
