After three games on the road, Progreso is heading back home. They will welcome the Raymondville Bearkats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Friday, Progreso had to suffer through a 44-7 loss at the hands of Santa Gertrudis Academy. The Red Ants haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Raymondville). They took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 42-14 victory over Falfurrias.

Luis De La Paz had an outrageously good game as he threw for 263 yards and four touchdowns on only 17 passes, and also rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Chris Gonzalez was De La Paz's top target, picking up 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Raymondville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Progreso's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Raymondville, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Progreso was dealt a bruising 50-6 defeat at the hands of Raymondville in their previous matchup back in November of 2019. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Progreso was down 28-0.
