Baseball Recap: Duncan Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Willcox, Duncan was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They skirted past the Lordsburg Mavericks 13-12. This was payback for the Wildkats, who suffered an 11-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Isaac Harris was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Harris wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Guy Riedhead, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Riedhead a new career-high. Joe Nandino also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Duncan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lordsburg only posted a batting average of .192.

Duncan is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Lordsburg, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.

Duncan didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 17-1 loss against St. David on the 10th. As for Lordsburg, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-6 victory against Mescalero Apache on the 15th.
