Softball Game Preview: Skyline Spartans vs. Issaquah Eagles

The Skyline Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Issaquah Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Skyline is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Skyline fell victim to Skyview and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Storm, falling 10-0. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Issaquah waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Cougars.

Shae Erickson (2027) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sadie Huryn (2025), who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Issaquah pushed their record up to 11-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 11-3.

Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Skyline has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Issaquah struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
