Softball Recap: Mt. Pleasant Snags Seventh Win in Last Nine Games

There's no place like home for Mt. Pleasant, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Southmoreland Scotties 7-6 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-11 two weeks ago.

Danica Trainer 2027 made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Talia Reho 2027 was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Jenna Whipkey 2028 was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Mt. Pleasant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 11 consecutive games.

Mt. Pleasant has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Southmoreland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will venture away from home to challenge Yough at 4:30 a.m. on Monday. As for Southmoreland, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on May 5.
