Recap: Phoenix Christian Cougars vs. Highland Prep Honey Badgers
The Phoenix Christian Cougars waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 12 straight wins but they left with 13. They came out on top against Highland Prep by a score of 48-40. For Phoenix Christian, this counts as revenge for the 60-45 defeat Highland Prep walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Bryce Anderson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 27 points. Anderson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Malakhai Moore Neal was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the loss, Highland Prep still got an impressive performance from Darius McKnight, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kohen Hill, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Phoenix Christian pushed their record up to 16-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.6 points per game. As for Highland Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Phoenix Christian will take on Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Highland Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Mountainside at 5:30 p.m. Mountainside has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
