Basketball Recap: Johnson Jaguars vs. Clark Cougars
The Johnson Jaguars lost against the Clark Cougars back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Johnson fell 58-48 to the Cougars. Johnson has not had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Johnson's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Donald, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Janae Johnson, who scored 14 points.
Johnson's defeat dropped their record down to 17-16. As for Clark, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-2 record this season.
Johnson will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Jaguars are ranked 178th). As for Clark, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Rough Riders at 7:30 p.m.
