Preview: Wakulla War Eagles vs. Suwannee Bulldogs
The Wakulla War Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Suwannee Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wakulla's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last eight games.
Wakulla put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. Everything went their way against North Florida Christian as Wakulla made off with a 42-21 win. Given Wakulla's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while North Florida Christian is ranked 208th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Haden Klees continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 272 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Klees is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last nine games he's played. Nehemiah Chandler also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Suwannee unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak two weeks ago. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 38-13 walloping at the hands of Madison County.
The losing side was boosted by Marquavious Owens, who rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown. Owens hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Wakulla's win was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 32.78 points. As for Suwannee, their loss dropped their record down to 6-1.
Wakulla came up short against Suwannee in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 22-14. Can Wakulla avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
