Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Gainesville's Winning Streak

After flying high against Newberry last Wednesday, Gainesville came back down to earth. The Hurricanes lost 13-2 to the Trinity Catholic Celtics on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Hurricanes have suffered since February 21st.

Gainesville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Gillins, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

With the defeat, Gainesville broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-6. As for Trinity Catholic, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will square off against Buchholz at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Trinity Catholic, they will face off against Montverde Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Celtics' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 10.7 runs per game this season.
