Basketball Recap: Little River Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Smithville last Thursday, Little River Academy came back down to earth. The Little River Academy Bumblebees fell just short of the Burges Mustangs by a score of 44-42 on Friday.

Burges was led to victory by Anthony Rubio and Marcus Sanchez. Rubio went 8 for 13 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Sanchez went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Sanchez a new career-high in points.

Little River Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Burges, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Lampasas the next time they take the court. Burges will head out to face Lampasas at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Little River Academy will play them later in the day, at 5:50 p.m.
