Softball Recap: Sacred Heart Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Sacred Heart had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Westminster Christian Academy on Thursday. Sacred Heart was the clear victor by a 17-1 margin over Westminster Christian Academy. Considering the Trojans have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Amelia Fontenot made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single walk, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sacred Heart got a massive performance out of Jolie Vidrine, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Vidrine a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aubree Guillory, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Sacred Heart always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Sacred Heart pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart will head out to square off against St. Edmund at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Bell City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
