Basketball Recap: Riley Lormand's Big Game Can't Quite Lead John Paul the Great Academy over Faith Training Christian Academy

John Paul the Great Academy easily dispatched Freedom Life Academy on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Guardians fell just short of Faith Training Christian Academy by a score of 24-22 on Saturday. The Guardians have struggled against Faith Training Christian Academy recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

John Paul the Great Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Lormand, who shot 56% from the field en route to 10 points along with five boards and five steals. Lormand is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least four every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Mouton, who posted ten points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

John Paul the Great Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Faith Training Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
