Trumann has gone a perfect 5-0 against Hoxie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Trumann barely beat Marked Tree the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 18-6 victory on Friday. Considering the Wildcats have won three contests by more than 11 runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Chaffin looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, Drake Harlow was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bradon Whitsett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Trumann always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Hoxie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bay. Even if the Mustangs couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Hayden McIntire and Dalton Neely stepped up to the plate in a big way. McIntire got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Neely got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Those RBI were McIntire's first of the season. Christian Nichols was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Trumann is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Hoxie, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trumann has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hoxie struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Trumann beat Hoxie 10-5 in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
