Baseball Game Preview: Tulelake Honkers vs. Plumas Charter Warriors

The Tulelake Honkers will take on the Plumas Charter Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tulelake comes in on four and Plumas Charter on three.

Tulelake's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Dunsmuir with a sharp 8-0 win.

Jason Orr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Orr wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Larsen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Plumas Charter beat Portola 6-2 on Tuesday.

Dalton Bentz was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Plumas Charter's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Owen Joseph, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Plumas Charter pushed their record up to 6-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Tulelake, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
